How Interior Design, Garden Design and Art Shape Our Wellbeing

At Inuti Interiors we believe that the spaces we live in influence far more than how a home looks. They shape how we feel, how we move through our day and how easily we are able to relax and reconnect. Thoughtful design has the ability to support calm, creativity and balance in ways that are often subtle but deeply meaningful.

This belief has inspired an event we are hosting, alongside talented garden designer, Cathy Smith of The Gardensmith at Cotswold Contemporary Art in Cirencester. It will be an evening of bringing together interior design, garden design and art to explore how our surroundings influence wellbeing and everyday life.

Interior design and wellbeing event at Cotswold Contemporary Art Gallery Cirencester hosted by Inuti Interiors exploring the relationship between home, garden and art.

The exciting conversation will bring together different creative perspectives to explore how colour, materials, light and nature combine to shape the experience of home. By looking at interior spaces alongside gardens and artwork, we hope to create a richer understanding of how thoughtful environments can support a more balanced and restorative way of living.

Why Wellbeing Matters in Design

There is increasing awareness that our homes should support more than just practical needs. The way a space is planned and furnished can affect mood, energy and comfort on a daily basis.

Interior design influences wellbeing through layout, colour and material choices. Natural textures such as timber and stone create warmth and depth, while considered lighting helps establish a sense of rhythm throughout the day. A well planned layout reduces visual noise and allows spaces to feel calm and intuitive to use.

Garden design offers a different but equally important connection. Outdoor spaces allow us to engage with nature, seasonal change and natural light. Even a small garden or courtyard can provide a sense of restoration when thoughtfully designed.

Art brings personality and emotional connection into a home. Artwork can shape atmosphere, create identity and bring meaning to interior spaces. Whether bold or understated, art adds a human layer that makes a space feel lived in and personal.

Together, interior design, garden design and art create environments that feel balanced and supportive of everyday life.

An Evening at Cotswold Contemporary

The event will take place at Cotswold Contemporary Art Gallery in Cirencester, a setting that provides a natural connection between art and interior spaces.

Guests will be able to explore the gallery and view the artwork on display while taking part in an evening designed to be relaxed and engaging. Drinks will be served throughout the evening, creating an informal atmosphere for conversation and connection.

The main discussion will explore how interior and outdoor spaces overlap in their influence on wellbeing. Topics will include colour psychology, texture and materiality, lighting and mood, and the ways in which nature influences how we respond to our surroundings.

By bringing together interior and garden design perspectives, the conversation will highlight how indoor and outdoor environments can work together to create a cohesive and supportive home.

Sharing Ideas and Practical Advice

After the main discussion, we’ll be opening things up for a more relaxed and interactive session where guests are welcome to bring along their own design questions. Whether it’s a room that never quite feels right, a tricky layout, colour decisions or ideas for improving a garden space, this is a chance to talk things through in a friendly and informal way.

Gemma and Cathy will be on hand with practical ideas and gentle guidance rather than anything too serious. From colour palettes and lighting ideas to artwork placement or planting suggestions, we hope guests will feel comfortable asking questions and sharing their own challenges.

The idea is to create an evening that feels welcoming and engaging, where people can come away with a few useful ideas and maybe a bit of inspiration along the way.

Thoughtful Spaces That Support Everyday Life

At Inuti Interiors we believe that good design begins with understanding how people truly live. Creating spaces that feel calm and personal requires careful attention to colour, materials, light and layout.

This event reflects that approach, bringing together different disciplines to explore how design can enhance the experience of home.

Often it is the smallest changes that have the greatest impact. A shift in lighting, a considered colour palette or the addition of meaningful artwork can transform how a space feels.

By sharing ideas and encouraging conversation, we hope this event will inspire new ways of thinking about how homes can better support wellbeing and everyday living.
