Some days, we wake up as the designer, or other days it may be the accountant, social media guru, the project manager, or the logistics coordinator. And on most days we are all of these, all at once! Running Inuti Interiors is driven by passion and a desire to make every project be the best it can be —a small business has ever shifting and evolving roles, every day we learn to embrace new challenges, and navigate the delicate balance of creativity and practicality.

In the beginning there is something beautifully chaotic about running a small business. One moment, Gemma is piecing together mood boards, selecting fabrics, feeling the weight of a handcrafted handle. The next, we are both knee-deep in spreadsheets, me certainly questioning if I should have paid more attention in maths class. In between all of this, we are fielding client calls, solving supplier mishaps, writing proposals, and making sure the social media algorithm gods are pleased.
But working together, our very own business, is all the both of us have ever wanted.
The Balance Between Passion and Pressure
We often ask ourselves how do we do this. Some days, self-doubt creeps in, whispering that we should have played it safe, taken a more predictable path. But then, there are those special moments—the glow of a client seeing their vision come to life, the thrill of discovering a new supplier, the buzz of getting a new opportunity come our way, that's what makes it worth every second.
Lessons From Wearing Many Hats
It can be hard to do things on your own. We are so fortunate to have the support of each other, someone to bounce ideas off, make those strategic business plans, and also someone to learn from. Asking for help needn't be a weakness, it can be essential. Whether it’s outsourcing bookkeeping, leaning on your business partner, or industry peers for advice, support is everything.
The small wins matter. It’s easy to get caught up in the big picture, but celebrating the tiny victories—a glowing testimonial, a new connection or a seamless installation, these small wins are a way for us to bond and grow in our shared experience.
Why We Do What We Do
At the end of the day, running Inuti Interiors isn’t just about interiors. It’s about creating spaces that feel like home, about curating details that tell a story, about making everyday life just a little more beautiful. Yes, we both wear many hats. Yes, the juggling act is real. But we wouldn’t trade this journey for anything.
To fellow small business owners out there—you are not alone. We are in this together, figuring it out one day (and one spreadsheet) at a time.
