Last week Gemma and I had an amazing day attending Decorex 2025, one of the most inspiring design and interiors shows in the UK. The event is an exciting mix of creativity, and beauty with the spotlight on emerging trends. It brings together some of the most exciting voices in the design world.
And yes true to form, we came home with enough free tote bags to start a small retail operation! There’s a whole cupboard groaning under the weight of branded cotton right now. But free bags and beautifully detailed trade stands - what's not to love!

What stood out for us: Design Trends & Highlights
Textured Surfaces & Tactile Materials: Texture took centre stage, from hand-applied plasters to rippled tiles and brushed metals. Surfaces are being treated almost sculpturally now every wall or cabinet face designed to catch light and invite touch.
Natural Materials & Earthy Palettes: Stone, timber, clay, cork, natural materials continue their reign, paired with warm neutrals and muted greens. Spaces are becoming more grounded and restorative, echoing the comfort of nature.
Artisanal & Bespoke Elements: Bespoke craftsmanship was everywhere, hand-woven textiles, individually cast handles, and joinery with personality. Clients are searching out for things made-for-them, not straight off the shelf.
Lighting as Sculpture: Statement lighting continues to blur the line between function and art. Sculptural pendants, layered illumination, and backlit detailing created drama and depth across many stands.
Sustainability & Circular Design: Sustainable isn’t a buzzword anymore, it’s the baseline. Reclaimed materials, traceable sourcing, and designs with disassembly in mind were prominent throughout the show.
Who we loved: Favourite Exhibits & Finds
Ca'Pietra - their stand was a masterclass in tone, texture, and balance.
Archrolls Fabrics - beautiful fabrics, well balanced, from subtle linens, silks and damasks and tactile weaves to bold statement prints, providing endless inspiration for soft furnishings and upholstery.
How It Inspires Our Work
Events like Decorex recharge the creative battery, providing fantastic inspiration and a backdrop to new ideas. We left feeling totally inspired and with a list of new suppliers we were blown away by. Thoughts on how we can put our ideas into practice:
Layer tactile materials and textures more boldly in our projects.
Push for custom craftsmanship wherever possible.
Treat lighting as an integral part of every design composition.
Continue sourcing responsibly and sustainably, without sacrificing beauty.
Beyond the stands, the best part of Decorex is always the people. From material innovators to fellow designers and suppliers, the discussions were open, optimistic, and full of fresh perspective...of course the real networking happens while juggling three tote bags, a coffee, and a sample board!
